Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death worldwide.
Currently, the 5-year survival rate after diagnosis of any type of lung cancer is 21%.
Why this low survival rate?
This may be due to late diagnosis and the lack of effective early detection programs.
In addition to smoking, there is a widespread lack of awareness of other risk factors such as environmental, spatial, occupational or genetic factors.
