At BILBOMÁTICA, we participated in the reengineering project for the Basque Government's Environmental Health department, a key initiative to provide this department with a common, integrated system geared towards the comprehensive management of its processes within the framework of e-government.
The project, developed through EJIE, enabled us to address the integration of the entire Environmental Health organization from scratch within the PLATEA corporate environment, a significant challenge both technically and organizationally.
A comprehensive project for a key area
Our work has encompassed the development of censuses, electronic processing, inspection, and advanced data analytics capabilities, covering all the functional needs of the Environmental Health area.
The main objective has been to finalize and integrate all Environmental Health areas within the SISA (Environmental Health Information System) framework, providing a unified and coherent view of processes that, until then, had been managed in a fragmented manner.
The Challenge: Integrating an Entire Organization from Scratch
One of the project's biggest challenges has been the complete integration of the Environmental Health area into PLATEA from the ground up, both in terms of systems and procedures.
This process has required not only technological development but also the definition of a common framework that would allow for the homogenization, coordination, and standardization of processes in an environment with highly diverse scenarios.
A Common Core for Processing, Management, and Analytics
To meet this challenge, we have developed a core system that provides all the necessary services for electronic processing, inspection, operational management, and data analytics, as well as integration with external organizations.
Based on this core service, all Environmental Health areas have been integrated into a common environment, supporting diverse fields such as drinking water management, bathing water management, Legionella control, chemical management, and mortuary health.
SISA, a fully operational and connected system
As a result of the project, SISA (Environmental Health Information System) is now fully operational, covering all processes within the Basque Government's Environmental Health department.
The system offers complete online processing of procedures, data analysis capabilities, and effective integration with external organizations, such as Environmental Health laboratories, water management agencies (Bilbao Water Consortium, AMVISA), and applications from the Ministry of Health.
With this project, we have strengthened our expertise in the development of complex information systems for public administration, providing comprehensive solutions that improve the efficiency, coordination, and quality of public services.
